I am an honest, straightforward, warm hearted coach and consultant and I will support you to get what you need from our work.

How about you?

I have two parts to my practice: Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) coaching and consultancy and individual coaching for people who want to make changes or find greater satisfaction in areas of their lives.

SEND Coaching and Consultancy

I have worked in SEND education for over 25 years in mainstream, special and local authority roles. Alongside my coaching and consultancy practice I have been a Head of School in a special school, an inspector and I am currently Head of Education in a specialist vocational provision. These three roles complement each other and bring depth and relevance to my practice.

As a practitioner, I understand the complexities, responsibilities and rewards of our work. As a coach and consultant, I am able to step back and help you reflect on what will make a difference for you.

  • As a senior leader, I was at a crossroads in my career and reached out to Rachel for support. She provided a safe space to decompress and then guidance and support helping me gain clarity in what I wanted next, and how to navigate and secure that. Her support and guidance were invaluable. Thank you.

    Coaching

  • As a new headteacher in a brand new special school I had a lot of freedom but a lot of responsibility too. I wanted to appoint my own team, but really wanted to make sure the culture of the school was right. Working with Rachel helped me to identify my core values. As a result, I have successfully appointed leaders who share my values so I know the culture will be right. This is the best foundation for any school.

    Coaching

  • “Rachel helped me get my overwhelm under control. She helped me prioritise and allowed me to delegate without feeling guilty about it. I can now see the impact of my work as a SENCo- I feel much more effective at work, and am enjoying my job again.”

    Coaching

  • Rachel led a SEND review at our school, what an investment! Her coaching style helped us understand impact of our decisions and her clear action plans have been invaluable for our next steps. We feel excited and empowered.

    SEND and Inclusion Review

  • Rachel worked with us to plan the SEND review; the parent, teacher and support staff survey responses were illuminating and the whole process gave us a 360 insight into our inclusive practice. We found Rachel's challenge really useful and now have a clear action plan to work from.

    SEND and Inclusion Review

  • Thank you very much for such a positive and useful SEND review. We have all found the advice extremely valuable. The report is so clear and easy to work from too. Thank you for your expertise, challenge and support.

Coaching for Individuals

I have an unshakeable belief in your power to shift the things you want to shift - we just have to find the way that works for you.

I will listen, reflect, question and support you to get what you need from our work together.

  • “My sessions with Rachel were some of the most useful conversations I have ever had. Rachel helped me address the reasons behind my lack of confidence and I now feel empowered to face the world again.

  • “I cannot recommend Rachel enough. Investing this time in myself, reflecting, saying things out loud to an independent person and exploring my feelings has been priceless. A massive thank you Rachel.”

  • I gained a different perspective on a range of topics, and I found the personal insights of the coach very helpful. I will use the questions she was asking me to decide about future circumstances. I really liked Rachel. I thought she was a very good listener, empathic, she gave me good advice and her way to guide me to find the best solution myself was very helpful. Thank you!

  • My initial concern was to try to reduce my anxiety around money, which was then negatively influencing my career decisions. Rachel helped me to reflect on my decision making and how I approach things. She helped me step back and pause and think. We also looked at how my career decisions were impacting on my mental health. She was reassuring, sympathetic, constructive and calming.

  • I experienced a lot of challenging questions that I hadn’t considered before. It took a while to answer them, but spending time thinking about them was very useful. It made me realise things I didn't know about myself. Also, during the time between sessions I was able to look at life with a new perspective which helped give me new enjoyable experiences as well.

  • I wanted to change my mindset from negativity and "can't do" to positive and "can do". Rachel was friendly, caring and open and asked me questions that made me think, rather than giving advice. She was really good at helping me find techniques that suited me specifically...so there was more chance of success at being able to deal with anxiety and panic when I'm "in the moment" and rationality seems to go out of the window.
